Bias in the Media?
The media influences our thoughts everyday. Whenever we listen to the radio, go on the computer, turn on the TV or looking in the newspaper (although not many kids do) the Media is always there. Usually whenever someone reads information he-she usually believes it and never double checks to see if this information is true or not. Me, I never take the time to verify my facts but I will if I have a project I will verify my sources. In the newspaper, there are not many bias, except for certain articles otherwise, the newspaper usually just states the facts. Internet sources are usually extremely bias, you can look up people's opinions on anything. Broadcast news are not usually bias because news usually just states the facts.

Wikis
I explored 3 different wikis, http://www.libraryforlife.org/subjectguides/index.php/Main_Page, wikipedia.com, and http://meredith.wolfwater.com/ala2006/index.php?title=Main_Page. I didn't really like any of them except for wikipedia.com. Wikipedia is much more efficient and you can look up anything and find an article about it. The reason that I picked these sites is because I already knew what wikipedia was and the other two were on the slide show. You could use wikis in class by looking up information that you need in a snap. Everytime that you look up some sort if information Wikipedia always pops up. I think that teachers can create personal wikis that they can use to teach the class and use wikis to show information to the class.

My Photostory
I made a photo story on some of my pictures of my vacation to Sri Lanka but this is a small piece of the hundreds of pictures that we have.
I will miss Cornerstone!
I didn't go to the dance... my mom wouldn't let me. I am going to miss all of my friends in Cornerstone as well as some of my friends. I think that the years that I spent in Cornerstone have mad a difference in my life by showing me which people are the right people to hang out with and that even though some classes are hard, I have the ability to get through it. I think that I am going to cry on the last day of school.

Dream CESIT Class

If I could pick any CESIT class than I would pick a volleyball CESIT class. We didn't have volleyball intramurals this year and that made me very sad. I love volleyball and I would love it if we had a volleyball CESIT class at Cornerstone. The only things that we would need is the gym everyday, spare knee pads in case students don't bring their own, and a teacher (I think that Lexi's sister could be the teacher!). Cornerstone already has the nets and plenty of volleyballs. I think that more people need to experience volleyball so that more people can love it! Lexi and I are totally for this!

Assignment #6: Mash Ups MOSAIC!

I made a mosaic! I used photos that I found on flickr. The reason that I used a mosaic maker is because I like mosaics and I thought that this would be kind of cool. I chose pictures of animals that I liked or that I thought was kind of funny. Mosaic Maker could be used in Social Studies by creating a mosaic of your regiment including the logo and the saying of your regiment. This is another option for creating a collage. Another fun activity that you can do with mosaic maker, is making a mosaic of your family. I would suggest it to anyone who wants to create something online rather than doing it hands on.

UNIPEG as a Pet!
If I could pick ANY animal than it would be a Unipeg. A cross between a Unicorn and a Pegasus it has wings AND a horn. Also known as a Pegahorn. I chose this pet because I love Unicorns and Pegasus and Ponies. I also made up this name last year. I would teach it to fly me to school as well as protecting me from stalkers and creepy people (remember it has a horn!). I would teach it cool tricks such as sitting down and pet etiquette like tricks. Since Unicorns are nice and gentle pets I think that having a Unicorn that could fly would be amazing! I love Unipegs!

Assignment 5
I explored Flickr the website where pictures are available. Tags are words that you can attach to your picture so that people can find it easier. For example if you have a picture of your dog Lucky, tags that you can add to it are Lucky, Dog, and the breed of dog that Lucky is. This way tags can help people find your picture easier. Groups is when you can share pictures with a group of people. So you can share a picture of yourself with your friends. Ways that you can use Flicker in school especially with science is that you can use some of the pictures from Flickr and put it on your projects such as a powerpoint. You can also share those pictures with your friends. Many do not have the permission to copy pictures off of Google but with Flicker, you can look up pictures that you have permission to use. Basically Flickr is an alternative to Google and Yahoo.

Image Generators

Image Generators are awesome! I decided to do mine about music. I put the different genres of music into one picture. I am in my music phase because of American Idol which is on tomorrow! I am a fan of Siobhan Magnus and Crystal Bowersox! I hope either of them win! I have a passion for music but I do not currently play andy music but I like to sing (although I have HUMONGEOUS stage fright) and listen to it. Over all image generator is fun to play with!

The dreaded test
We, as students have to take a test to show the district what we are learning. I like to call it the Together All Kids Suffer (TAKS) test. I honestly think that the test is way too easy and does not show our knowledge in certain subjects. Many students especially at my school get comended. Since our school is Pre-Ap Taking pointless test that are grade level does not show the district how well a student understands a certain subject. The test just takes up useless time and it is extremely boring. I think that the district should give a test that goes with what each student is doing and I don't think that all students should get the same test. For example, if you take algebra in a Pre-Ap class then you should take a Pre-Ap exam not a grade level math exam. Being in more advanced classes I become very frustrated that the district thinks of all students as the same. The district is basically saying that each and every student is the same as another and therfore they should all take the same test. To sum this all up I HATE THE "TOGETHER ALL KIDS SUFFER" TEST. Don't make kids suffer anymore end the madness end the test.
